Ifor Williams / Bateson Tipping Trailer Charging Kit
This charging kit uses a 13 pin trailer socket on your vehicle to charge the Ifor Williams or Bateson Tipping Trailer battery, it can also be used to charge batteries on covered trailers, or winches.
We designed this kit because there is no provision for charging off the vehicle on a tipping trailer, resulting in a flat battery after only a few ‘full load’ tips.
It can be fitted to any tipping trailer with a similar layout, a flatbed trailer with winch or a covered trailer.
It uses the 13 pin socket on the vehicle to provide an ignition or constant feed, which is protected from back feeding from the trailer to the vehicle, and has a inline 20A fuse at the battery.
The kit can be installed onto a 7 pin or 13 pin tipping trailer.
There are three kits depending on where the Britax trailer wiring box with spade terminals is located or if you wish to plug and play without the need to do wiring.
- For a trailer with the wiring box at the rear please purchase the Ifor Williams Trailer wiring kit – Socket version.
- For a trailer with the wiring box on the front passenger side of the chassis, please purchase the Ifor Williams Trailer wiring kit – Spade terminal kit.
- Plug and Play For a trailer with a working 13 pin plug to go into our pre wired socket with the battery connection pre-wired. Please purchase this for a 13 pin plug in kit, with no wiring to do.
The socket version kit comes with a double ended plug in 13 core cable, so it can be removed from the trailer if stored near animals so that it doesn’t get chewed. This may require you to cut your existing cable and install the supplied socket if you do not already have a 13 pin socket fitted on or near the front cross member.
The Plug and Play version comes with a 13 pin plug and socket on an extension cable for you to plug in your existing working 13 pin trailer plug, and then connect on the two battery connections. It doesn’t need any wiring and is ideal for moving from one trailer to another.
The pictures show a socket version we installed on a 12 ft Ifor Williams trailer, and fixed the socket onto the trailer by drilling it. However, your kit will come with a mounting plate for the socket, so you can optionally bolt it on.
Please note: This kit will not work with a 7 pin socket on your vehicle with a 13 pin converter installed. It has to have a 13 pin socket installed on the vehicle with the extra +ve and -ve feed wires.
